Iconic Places - Monte Zoncolan

The climb of Monte Zoncolan has only been used twice in the Giro d'Italia but has already achieved an infamous reputation for toughness. The bare statistics do most of the talking; from the toughest Ovaro side, the climb stretches for 10.5km at an average gradient of 11.5%.
It's in the final six kilometres though that the real climbing starts with the average gradient a leg stinging 15% with the steepest pitches upto 22%. Recently retired local mountain goat, Gilberto Simoni has won both stages on the Zoncolan so far so we can expect a new winner at the summit this year.
Ride the Zoncolan yourself and watch the pros do battle in this year's Giro d'Italia on our Giro Final Week.
