A Week In The Pyrenees

La Fuga were asked to organise a week of cycling in the Pyrenees as part of a 60th birthday celebration. The client requested a one centre format allowing easy access to the famous Tour climbs of the area. La Fuga found a charming gite, set in the hills overlooking the beautiful town of Arreau, in the central Pyrenees. With the Col d’Aspin and Col d’Azet on the doorstep and Col du Tourmalet and Col du Peryresourde within riding distance it certainly put them in the heart of the Col-baggers paradise.

The group of eight enjoyed food shopping at the local market in Arreau and eating al fresco on the terrace of the gite. La Fuga also sourced bikes for the group, saving them the inconvenience of bringing their own bikes.

A Personalised Dolomites Raid

La Fuga organised a cycling tour to remember for two Australian riders who were over in Europe on business. Their Dolomites cycling experience was enhanced by the presence of a La Fuga guide who took care of transport, accommodation and gave them a unique insight into the landscapes of their tour. The taller of the two guests even had the honour of using a bike ridden by the legendary Eros Poli as part of the bike hire deal organised by La Fuga. The week started off with participation in the tough Granfondo Monte Grappa, taking in the climb of Monte Grappa which ascends from 200m to over 2300m above sea level over its 22km length.

After recovering from their exertions at the charming Hotel Belvedere, just outside Treviso, the group transferred to Bormio, putting them within reach of the classic climbs of Passo Stelvio, Passo Mortirolo and Passo Gavia. The final location of the tour was the picturesque town of Corvara, in the heart of the Dolomites. From there the two guests were able to take in a loop of the Sellaronda and bag the climbs of the Marmolada / Passo Fedaia, Passo Giau and Passo Falzarego. After a tough hectic days on business, what better way to relax and distress than a fantastic tour of Italy’s most spectacular mountain scenery.
