Dragon Ride

The Dragon Ride is rated at the Nation's favourite cyclosportive and is on par with many of the great European events of its kind. The sportive features three circular routes of 37, 125 or 206km over the beautiful hills and valleys of South Wales. With around 3,400m of climbing, the newly designed 'Gran Fondo' route takes in the classic climbs of the Bwlch, Rhigos plus Cimla and Cray which for 2012 will be run in the opposite direction compared to recent years. The Black Mountain and the “hill with no name” will also be making an appearance for 2012.

With the Etape du Tour just around the corner this is the ideal event to complete your Etape preparation.

Accommodation

If the route of the Dragon Ride is not spectacular enough for you then our specially selected period hotel will blow you away. The Miskin Manor Hotel is a four star hotel and wellness spa located in the heart of South Wales. The Manor was built in 1864 to the design of David Vaughan, but additions have been made throughout its history. The earliest building on the site is thought to have been a service range, perhaps 17th century, to which the manor was built. 

Today the manor is run as a luxury hotel and commonly used for wedding receptions and Dragon Riders!

Dragon Ride

Saturday 9th June 2012

The shuttle will depart from London at 10.30am to make the two and a half hour journey to our base in the historical Miskin Manor Hotel and spa.  Your bikes will be unloaded and checked over by an experienced staff member.

In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to loosen the legs with a fully supported short ride along the scenic back roads or make use of the hotel's relaxing wellness centre.

Early evening we will have a pre-race briefing in the comfortable lounge before enjoying a three-course meal in the a private dining room sampling some local Welsh cusine.

It's then off to bed to get ready for the big day!

Sunday 10th June 2012

It's an early rise to a well stocked breakfast to put in plenty fuel for the ride ahead.  Your bikes will be loaded into the vehicles along with your bags.

We will depart the hotel around 6.30AM and make the short journey to the event.  Once at the event you will be escorted by a La Fuga guide to your starting pen ready for the off at 8AM.

Following a tough but enjoyable ride you will be greeted at the finish and welcomed with a cold beer or soft drink and a soigneur's rub down.  You are then free to refuel from the food at our VIP tent and soak in the atmosphere around the finishing compound.

Once everyone has completed the ride and are fed and watered, your bike and bags will be loaded back into the vehicles to make the journey home.

En route there will be a chance to shower and change at the hotel before making our way back to London having conquered the Dragon Ride 2012.
