Giro d'Italia Final Week
22 May — 31 May 2010

We didn't think last year's final week of the Giro could be improved upon, but the organisers have come up trumps for 2010 with an epic final week that manages to pack in the savagely steep climb of Monte Zoncolan, the gravel ascent of the Plan de Corones, the infamous Passo del Mortirolo and Passo di Gavia before a last gladiatorial battle finishing the in the Roman Arena in beautiful Verona. Giro d'Italia Final Week
22 May — 31 May 2010
WARNING: Reading beyond this point may result in the holiday of a lifetime!
Saturday 22 May
Arrive into Venice or Treviso airports. Transfer by minibus to Monte Zoncolan area.
Sunday 23 May
Today we will tackle the mighty Monte Zoncolan, and then find the perfect place to watch the pros battle it out. We will remain in the Zoncolan area for the night.

Monday 24 May
We'll leave the Zoncolan behind us and transfer closer to tomorrow's Plan des Corones stage. We'll have enough time in the afternoon to sample some Dolomites climbs such as the Passo Pordoi and Passo Fedaia.

Tuesday 25 May
We're off the beaten track today as we climb the gravel road to the Plan de Corones. The Giro last visited this climb two years ago where the stage was won in emphatic style by Franco Pelizzotti. We'll have prime position to see who is in contention this time around.

Wednesday 26 / Thursday 27 May
As the Giro races out of the mountains, we transfer down to the shores of idyllic Lake Como. Over two days we'll do some great riding including a chance to ascend the legendary Madonna del Ghisallo and visit the cyclists' chapel and cycling museum at the summit. On the second day, a picturesque ferry journey across Lake Como will allow us to explore the roads around Lake Lugano

Friday 28 May
The Giro riders tackle the infamous Mortirolo today towards the end of a 155km stage starting in Brescia and finishing in the mountain town of Aprica. We'll set off with plenty of time to tackle this climb which Lance Armstrong rates as the hardest there is, and find a suitable position to watch the last acts of the 2010 Giro being fought out. After such a touch climb, you'll really be looking forward to a good soak in the thermal waters of our hotel!

Saturday 29 May
The final mountain stage of the 2010 Giro starts from our base in Bormio, completes a loop through the eccentric duty free town of Livigno over three passes before returning to Bormio and tackling the Passo di Gavia and Passo del Tonale. A big day of racing in any pros book! We'll head straight to the Gavia to see the Maglia Rosa contenders fight it out over the race's highest point. After the stage we will transfer to Verona, ready for tomorrow's action.

Sunday 30 May
The Giro arrives for the final showdown in the historic town of Verona with a 15.3km time trial ending in the Roman Arena. To finish your tour off with a florish, we've obtained VIP passes for the final stage to give you the best view of the action. Verona is the perfect location to enjoy the last night of the tour with great food and wine to toast a memorable journey.

Monday 31 May
Time to pack up and travel home. We will transfer you to Venice or Treviso airports, a journey of approximately 90 minutes.
