Giro di Lombardia Weekend

4 October — 7 October 2013

The autumn colours of the Lake Como shoreline provide a beautiful backdrop to the Giro di Lombardia, the finale of the Italian professional cycling season. The race course has changed in the last few years now staying in the hills towards the lower part of the lake before culminating with the ascent of the legendary Madonna del Ghisallo and a final sting in the tail before a rapid finale through the streets of Lecco.

Our base for this ‘ride and watch’ weekend is the beautiful town of Bellagio at the superb Hotel Silvio. This has a tranquil setting at the foot of the Madonna del Ghisallo with amazing panoramic views over the Larian peninsula and Lake Como. From here we can head to the race start in Milan whilst sampling the best of fantastic Italian terrain around lake Como.

We will see how the pro’s do it whilst tackling the hills ourselves and having the opportunity to sample the best in local cuisine and wine.
