Lombardia Corto
15 October — 18 October 2010
The autumn colours of the Lake Como shoreline provide a beautiful backdrop to the Giro di Lombardia, the finale of the Italian professional cycling season. The race completes a complete lap of Lake Como culminating with the ascent of the legendary Madonna del Ghisallo and a rapid finale through the streets of Como.
Our base for the weekend is the beautiful town of Bellagio set at the foot of the Madonna del Ghisallo with amazing panoramic views over the Larian peninsula and Lake Como.
Our base in Bellagio allows us to take in the terrain of the Larian peninsula including the Ghisallo, hop on a ferry and sample the riding on the western shore and trace the lake shore towards Como or Lecco.

15 October — 18 October 2010
Friday
Arrival to Milan Linate. Transfer by minibus to our base in Bellagio. Bikes will be unpacked and assembled ready for to ride. For dinner we will enjoy a taste of cucina Lombarda and sample a bottle or two of Franciacorta or Valtellina whilst the sun sets over the lake.
Saturday
Saturday is the day of the Giro di Lombardia. After breakfast we'll take the cross-lake ferry to Cadennabia and ride the Intelvi climb to catch the race in it's early stages. We'll return to Bellagio by ferry again and make our way towards the Madonna del Ghissalo where we will enjoy a private guided tour of the Museo del Ciclismo with an English speaking guide and then relax in the grounds with a hearty picnic lunch. We’ll then descend down the hill and choose a prime spot to watch the race in its decisive stages. After the excitement of the race passes, we’ll make our way back to the hotel, with the remainder of the afternoon and evening free to relax.
Sunday
With the Granfondo Giro di Lombardia looking unlikely to be held again this year, instead we'll enjoy a great ride in the hills around Lake Como and ride the last 60km of the professional race taking in the Ghisallo and the final climbs on the outskirts of Como. As with yesterday, the La Fuga car will be there to carry spare clothing and drinks to make you feel like a pro for the day.
In the event that the granfondo does take place, we ride that instead of the ride described above. Entry to the race will be included in the package price.
Monday
A day to relax and enjoy the last few hours in Italy. Depending on flight times, there may be time for a last spin around the Larian peninsula. The bikes will be packed up ready for the journey home. Our minbus will take you the short transfer back to the airport.
