Prosecco Corto

The Prosecco Cycling Classic takes place in the pre-alpi north of Treviso amongst the vineyards that produce the delicious Prosecco sparkling wine. The terrain is perfectly suited for an end of season event providing a realisitc challenge for the time of year. Two route options are offered, 128km (2100m of climbing) and 68km (980m of climbing). The full route offers some great scenery as it winds and undulates its way through the winelands around Valdobbiadene. The shorter route provides an option for riders who fancy bringing their bikes but don't fancy attempting the full distance.

We are based in the beautiful town of Treviso for the weekend. It has all the character and architectural charm you would expect of Italy without the hoards of tourists. There are numerous shady piazzas with bars to sit outside and enjoy a glass of Prosecco. The winding streets and numerous canals that dissect the town make it a beautiful place to relax and explore. Why not bring the other half along? For the non-cyclist there is still plenty to do. Treviso is home to the fashion house of Benetton and has many designer boutiques, shoe shops and jewellery stores to investigate. It is also only a 30 minute direct train ride from the heart of Venice.

Our hotel is set within its own private grounds giving it a really relaxed feel. The idyllic outdoor pool provides the opportunity to cool off and ease tired legs in a beautifully manicured setting.

Friday

Arrival at Treviso or Venice Marco Polo Airport. Transfer by minibus to our base in Treviso.

Saturday

Your bike will be unpacked and ready to go. We will enjoy a gentle spin through the vineyards around Treviso. The aim is to spin the legs and loosen things up for the challenge tomorrow. Lunch will be had at a cafe en route. The rest of the afternoon will be free to relax and make final preparations for tomorrow.

Alternatively you may prefer to spend the day exploring Treviso or take the short journey to Venice and spend a special day in the city of romance. Your bike will receive a final check over from our mechanic and your race number fitted.

Sunday

The Big Day! The hotel will serve a breakfast suitable for the day’s activities with generous helpings of pasta. We will then make the short journey to the race start and arrive with enough time to grab a pre-race espresso or two. Your guide will be on hand to pass on some last minute words of wisdom and escort you to the starting pen.

After a tough (and hopefully enjoyable) race, we’ll meet you at the finish with some cold drinks and congratulations. Afterwards we’ll hit the pasta party for some serious refuelling and a chance to check the results board. After a refreshing shower and maybe a power nap back at the hotel, we will venture into Treviso and rewards our efforts of the day with some great food and drink.

Monday

A day to relax and enjoy your last few hours in Italy. Your bike will be packed up ready for your flight home. Our minibus will take the short distance to Treviso or Venice airports.
